INTERVIEW: Sustainable Architecture and Ecobuild

ABOUT this time one year ago we were getting ready for our event focused on Sustainable Architecture & Ecobuild. This was a fantastic event that brought together so many interesting people from different industries, academia and even representatives from Church groups – all interested in learning more about the green buildings movement.

If you missed the event – watch this video interview with some of our Speakers including Ann Beavis, Sustainability Manager at Premier Sustain, Jason Lomas, Founder of JJL Trees and our very own Sonya Meagor, Founder of the North London Sustainability Network and eco cuisine. They provided their thoughts on what the future holds for the construction, buildings and landscaping industry and the benefits of attending events like this.

Other event Speakers and Exhibitors for this event included: Simon Wyatt, Partner at Cundall, Rachel Wootliff, Sustainability Manager at Willmott Dixon Interiors, Monique Simons, Director at EAL Consult, Cheryl Pilliner-Reeves, Director at PR Architects, Verti-Grow and our ‘Charity in the Spotlight’ the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.

The Future of Sustainable Energy & Transport

21 NOVEMBER 2019 we will host our 5th North London Sustainability Network event and are excited to find out more about these fast paced developing industries. Researching topics, speakers and event partners have taken us in to the world of green technology, urban planning and community engagement strategy. It has also been enlightening to see examples of innovation and collaboration that challenge traditional ideals and push forward futuristic concepts – with many becoming new realities for how we create and consume energy and travel.

This event will look at the future of sustainable energy and technology – with a focus upon the impacts on urban communities and businesses. Our speakers will cover innovative topics and perspectives on how we can make London a more sustainable city – as well as exploring how women can be more active in these traditionally male dominated industries.

DISCOVER + CONNECT + NETWORK

Enjoy thought-provoking talks on what it means for you, or your business, to be ‘sustainable’ while taking in presentations from experts across the energy and transport sector, including:

  • Trading Towards a Renewable Generation Energy Future – Genna Boyle, Senior Trader at Limejump

“Having been a speaker at a previous North London Sustainability Network event on sustainable packaging – we saw first hand the incredible community that they had created. The room was buzzing with switched on delegates and event collaborators passionate about the sustainability agenda. The Network is aligned with our values and we are proud to support them.”

The Journey Begins…

The North London Sustainability Network is Born!

AS YOU should already know I’m a long-standing environmentalist and online activist with particular interest in seasonal British food, animal welfare and packaging (plastic in particular) which is why we use either biodegradable (from Enviropack) or reusable platters in china, porcelain, metal. I also use a green supplier for equipment hire (Arnold Walker).

Are you interested in environmental issues and sustainability?

We are and we live by these values in the way we work and live. We strive to ensure that all the operations here at eco cuisine are ethical, sustainable and eco friendly and it runs through the heart of everything that we do. But, I wanted to do more…

I got to thinking about how I could raise awareness of the importance of sustainability. I know I can’t be the only business in north London who cares about environmental issues and sustainability too – but I noticed that there isn’t any coherent network or group addressing this, either in business, for individuals, or for the third sector in North London.

So, that’s how the North London Sustainability Network is born! It formally launches with our first event on Tuesday 17th July 2018 at 6pm.
